Everyone has dreams big and small some want wealth some want health some want something else (yes that did rhyme get over it) I feel like it’s important to dream as big as you can and not think too much about what people think. Here are my thoughts and methods about dreaming and how it can lead you to success.
Don’t be afraid!
Don’t be afraid to dream big, in fact the bigger the dream the further you’ll get. It was my Dad who told me when I was a kid ‘’Aim for the stars and at-least you’ll get above the trees’ and that is exactly what I do and it’s the inspiration not only for this blog but everything I do.
When I was in primary school my teachers would ask the class ‘’what do you want to be when you grow up?’’. And the class would answer one by one ‘’ I want to be a fireman’’, ‘’I want to be a nurse’’ and there was always that one kid ‘’I want to be a teacher’’ but when it came to my turn id always say ‘’ I want to be a Mad Scientist’’. This would usually throw the teacher and make them giggle.
Now I may have had the mad part although I was no way near academic enough to have the scientist part but that wasn’t the point. Don’t be afraid to dream different to everyone else and you shouldn’t settle for someone else’s dreams. I think that’s the problem with a lot of people these days. I speak to so many people unhappy with their job or career and all they say is ‘’I wish’’. Now other than in some Disney movies I am sorry to say wishes don’t come true you have to actually do stuff and take risks to reach your goals and that is the scary part.
People might find your dreams unrealistic, silly or maybe even stupid but that’s because they believe they could never reach those goals, and are you them?
But the fact is that many will doubt your goals but all will want your success. So keep dreaming and don’t let anyone put you down.
Visualize your goals
For some it can be hard to see their goals and know exactly what it is you want. This is so important in reaching your dreams.
It can be easy to lose sight of what you want when, maybe things aren’t going well and sometimes that can push you to take the easy option and as soon as you give up that is when you have failed.
So this is how I keep myself on track
That is my dream board, everything I want and images of a lifestyle I long for. That gets me up early every morning, when I look at my dream board I feel the warmth of the hot Floridian sun, feel the wind on my face and smell the sea salt in the air, it drives me. I have this collage of dreams as the screen saver on my laptop, IPhone and IPad. Every time I open my computer to start working I see my dreams. I cannot forget it even if I tried. This is a great way to stop procrastination and keep going even when you don’t want too. Every decision I make, I make it while looking at my dreams it forces me to make a clearer decision that edges me one step closer to where I want to be.
This can be fun to make as well, I spent about an hour searching the web for all the things I want and images that depict a lifestyle I dream of. By using free apps like Photo Quilt it’s very easy to make or if you prefer a more hands on approach get out some glue and some magazines and make one, then hang it somewhere you’ll see it every day like your bedroom door.
One other thing I do every day is visualize a particular dream over and over again in my head. I do this mainly when I workout, I get on the cross trainer and close my eyes. I visualize driving a red Ferrari through Beverly Hills, suited and booted in a tailored suit with the glint of gold from my cufflinks, I can hear the rumble of that v12 engine and smell the expensive aftershave. I pull up outside a top 5 star hotel, it’s a warm and humid evening. I then hand the keys to the parking valet and walk in. that’s when it ends, I see that every day and one day it will happen.
Just like Napoleon Hill talks about in his book ‘’think and grow rich’’ it’s important to have definite goals, know exactly what you want and expect nothing else.
‘’Aim for the stars and at-least you’ll get above the trees’’
This is the first of many blog posts I would love to hear your opinions on what I have to say in the comments below and maybe some more about what you would like to read in the future.
